SHANTALL LACAYO

Shantall Lacayo, comes from a family of plastic artists, she was born in Managua on May 4, 1984. Her mother Lauren Lacayo is the owner of an “Museo-Galería Genesis”, an artistic center where the designer lived and throughout her childhood allowing her to grow up surrounded by art and eccentricity.

At age 6, Lacayo designs y materializes her first dress in the ever famous model Barbie, at 16 she obtained a spot as designer and wardrobe artist for Compañía de Danza Ilusiones, a local dance studio that annually holds several high production shows every year, she also participated in several fashion shows and designed exclusively for candidates of Miss Nicaragua. 

In 2008 she moves to Buenos Aires, Argentina, where will study and seek new opportunities, after two years of hard work, a lot of door knocking and several disappointments, she finally got a chance when she was selected as a contestant in Project Runway Latin America where she reached second place.

After her debut in PRL, in her last year in Escuela de Moda Argentina in 2010, Shantall has made a name for herself by specializing in Haute- Couture and Prêt –a-Porter. After the amazing experience in Proyect Runway Latin America (PRLA), Shantall lacayo and her mother, Lauren Lacayo, founded Diseños Shantall Lacayo S.A, (Shantall Lacayo Designs, S.A.)

Shantall lacayo, the brand (SL) has a great artistic content easily noticed in the morphology of the pieces and the creation of tactile and visual fabrics that are constantly inspired by the fusion of plastic art, modern and historic. As a personal marc she reinterprets indigenous elements aiming to promote and retake Latin-American cultural roots. 

Socially, she fights for women empowerment and the integration of women in the employment sector and suggests constant training with the idea of providing the Nicaraguan woman work tools for future sources of income and improvement of their quality of life. 

Her recent accomplishments include: 

  • Co-Production of Nicaragua Diseña with Intur (Nicaraguan Institute of Tourism) 2012-to the date.

  • Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Panama 2014

  • World Fashion Exhibition Paris 2014 

  • Capsule Show New York 2014

  • Latinista   Fashion    Week   Nueva    York 2013.
